After months of deliberation International Standards Organisation national bodies, including Standards Australia, will convene this Friday to decide whether to support Ecma Open Office XML as a new global standard for document file formats.
If you've been paying attention you'll know that this standard was originally defined by Microsoft and that's got a lot of people worried. After all Microsoft hasn't been known as a good friend of all things open in the past. We'll be hearing from some folk from Microsoft to find out how open they're prepared to be on this issue.
